Peugeot Malaysia launches new campaign offering three-day test drive sessions!

Peugeot Malaysia has announced its latest campaign, the “Peugeot Weekender Experience,” which allows customers to enjoy test drive sessions lasting up to three days.

This first-of-its-kind campaign enables customers to choose from three different models: the Peugeot 408 crossover sedan, the Peugeot 2008 SUV, and the Landtrek pickup truck, to use throughout the weekend or on regular weekdays.

Customers can also take advantage of the integrated ChatGPT feature on the microsite to create a personalized itinerary based on their interests and preferences.

According to Jamie Francis Morais, Managing Director of Stellantis Malaysia, “For many years, we have relied on traditional methods where customers walk into showrooms and spend a few minutes driving around the vicinity. This approach does not showcase the true capabilities of the vehicles or the ownership experience of a Peugeot.

“With the Peugeot Weekender Experience, we want to change how our customers experience our vehicles. We want to give them the freedom and flexibility for several days to enjoy the true experience and see how a Peugeot can meet their lifestyle and mobility needs.”

Open to all Malaysians with a valid driving license, the Peugeot Weekender Experience can be participated in by visiting any authorized Peugeot showroom and scanning the provided QR code.

Alternatively, you can visit the microsite peugeotweekenderexperience.com, fill in your personal information, and select a nearby showroom.

Zeekr 009 electric luxury MPV makes its way to Malaysia – from RM349,800

In addition to the X, Zeekr Malaysia has also launched a luxury MPV set to compete in the local EV market – the Zeekr 009.

The newcomer is poised to compete with popular models such as the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire, the Maxus Mifa 9, as well as upcoming models like the GWM Wey 80 and the Denza D9.

The 009 is available in two variants, namely Luxury and Ultra Luxury. The former is a seven-seater with a 2-2-3 seating configuration while the latter has six seats in a 2-2-2 layout.

Mazda confirms Iconic SP is approaching production phase

It has been over a year since Mazda first showcased the concept model, Iconic SP, at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.

In exciting news for rotary sports car enthusiasts, Mazda has finally confirmed the company’s commitment to making the Iconic SP a reality in the future.

In an interview with Auto News, Mazda CEO Masahiro Moro provided the much-anticipated update regarding the production version of the Iconic SP.

He stated, “We are working to make it a reality, and we are progressing step by step towards that goal.”

The enthusiasm for realizing the concept was evident from the beginning when the Iconic SP model created a buzz in the digital world.

During last year’s Japan Mobility Show, the CEO described the model as a commitment to Mazda’s future.

This was further reinforced by a statement from Mazda’s chief designer, Masashi Nakayama, who emphasized, “This concept is not just an empty show car. It has been designed with the genuine intention of becoming a production model in the future.”

Mazda will also develop a new hybrid powertrain unit featuring two rotors to meet the demands of users in the United States who crave power.

Unlike the conventional rotary engine operations we know, this hybrid two-rotor engine will act as a power generator for the electric motors that drive the wheels, rather than directly powering the wheels.

With a combined power output of around 365 hp, it is significantly more powerful than the rotary engines found in the RX-7 and RX-8 models.

This configuration of the hybrid rotary engine is seen as a solution to the weight issues present in today’s electric vehicles, allowing Mazda to use a smaller battery pack to keep the weight to a minimum—an essential aspect for any sports car.

For your information, Mazda established a special team to develop the rotary engine in February.

Comprising 36 engineers, the RE Development Group will be responsible for creating cars that excite Mazda customers, especially fans of rotary-powered sports cars.

GWM Tank 500, Wey 80 previewed at KLIMS 2024

The Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024 has seen the unveiling of two new models from Great Wall Motor (GWM), namely the Tank 500 and the Wey 80.

According to GWM Malaysia, the SUV and MPV are set to be launched in the Malaysian market in 2025, although the exact date has not yet been disclosed.

Tank 500

Like the Tank 300, which was launched here last July, the Tank 500 is also an off-road SUV but it is a much larger one, measuring 5,078 mm in length, 1,934 mm in width, and 1,905 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.

In China, the Tank 500 is offered with several types of powertrains but the showcased unit is the hybrid variant featuring a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 342 PS and 648 Nm of torque.

The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission that drives the wheels through a four-wheel-drive system.

Available features include 11 driving modes, a tank turn function, Off-Road Cruise Control, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 14.6-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as ADAS driver assistance systems.

While the price has not been announced, considering that the Tank 300 starts at RM250,000, the Tank 800 is likely to be priced around RM350,000.

Wey 80

Also known as the Gaoshan in China, the Wey 80 is a seven-seat MPV from GWM’s luxury sub-brand, Wey.

The model features a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which GWM calls as Dedicated Hybrid Technology (DHT). It combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a pair of electric motors, generating a total system output of 487 PS (358 kW) and 762 Nm of torque.

Nissan Kicks e-Power pricing announced, from RM113,800-RM121,800

Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has officially launched the Nissan Kicks e-Power in the local market.

As reported, this compact crossover is available in two variants: VL and VLT. The official selling prices have been announced, starting at RM113,800 for the former and RM121,800 for the latter.

The VLT variant can also be had with a two-tone colour scheme for an additional RM4,000, bringing its selling price to RM125,800.

Interestingly, ETCM is offering an Early Bird promotion, where the first 500 customers will receive a 10-year/160,000 km EV component warranty and an introductory rebate of RM5,000.

With said rebate, the selling price of the Kicks e-Power is reduced to RM108,800 for the VL, RM116,800 for the VLT, and RM120,800 for the VLT in the two-tone option.

The Kicks e-Power features the e-Power drivetrain, which combines a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, an electric motor, and a 2.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. The combination produces a total system output of 129 PS and 280 Nm.

Unlike a conventional hybrid drivetrain, the internal combustion engine in the e-Power system acts solely as a generator, tasked with charging the battery. The power is then delivered to the electric motor to drive the wheels.

This means that the Kicks e-Power is fully powered by the electric motor, much like a true electric vehicle, but it does not require charging.

Fuel consumption is rated at 21.7 km/l based on the NEDC cycle. With a 41-litre fuel tank, it is claimed to be capable of achieving a range of up to 900 km.

In terms of equipment, the Kicks e-Power comes standard with automatic LED headlights, LED fog lights, automatically folding side mirrors, speed-sensitive wipers, and a tyre repair kit (no spare tyre).
