The Terengganu Police has thwarted a smuggling operation involving Yamaha RX-Z motorcycles following the arrest of a man in Kampung Padang Luas, Jertih, Besut on Saturday.
According to Terengganu police chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairudin, the smuggling operation was uncovered during an inspection of a house that had been converted into a workshop.
He stated that the seizure was carried out by the Terengganu Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) following a police report made previously.
“Inspecting the workshop, which was also observed by the suspect, uncovered 11 Yamaha RX-Z motorcycles, four chassis, and six engine components of unspecified motorcycle types.
“We believe that all these items were brought in from Thailand without valid documentation,” he said.
He added that the 41-year-old suspect, who hails from Jertih and claimed to be the owner of the house, was arrested on the same day.
“The suspect has three previous criminal records under Section 365 of the Penal Code, Section 29 (1) of the Minor Offences Act, and Section 61 (1) of the Special Prevention Measures Act (LLPK).
“Investigations revealed that the suspect admitted to being involved in the case under investigation, while a urine screening test conducted on him returned negative results,” he said.
As of the time this article was written, the world has been treated to a lineup of supercars and hypercars offering astonishing performance that defies imagination.
However, the author argues that none of these models can rival the sound of the V10 engine in the Lexus LFA.
Yes, even though this model has long since ceased production in 2012, the quality of the engine and exhaust soundtrack, reminiscent of a Formula 1 machine, remains difficult to match.
If you find that white noise isn’t helping you sleep soundly, you might want to try an alternative that’s perfect for petrolheads: listening to the sound of the Lexus LFA engine!
Toyota quietly uploaded a three-hour video on the Toyota Times YouTube channel, featuring uninterrupted pure sounds of the Lexus LFA.
For the information of our readers, the Lexus LFA is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine, the 1LR-GUE, capable of producing up to 552 hp and 480 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition, meanwhile, features a retuned engine that generates 563 hp, with a gear shift that is 0.05 seconds faster, along with aerodynamic enhancements more suited for track use.
At the same time, Lexus sought Yamaha’s assistance to further tune the engine, exhaust, and intake systems, resulting in a soundtrack that is hard to replicate by any manufacturer.
As someone who appreciates this unique genre of “music,” we hope Toyota can provide recordings of the fantastic engine sounds produced in the past, such as the six-cylinder 2JZ-GTE, the sole V12 1GZ-FE used in the second-generation Toyota Century, and, of course, the legendary 4A-GE engine.
Bonus: The soundtrack of the Lexus LFA roars on the test track!

YAMAHA has announced the establishment of a new company called Enyring, which will offer battery exchange services based on subscription in Europe.
According to the official images provided, this Yamaha battery exchange service is seen to use smaller-sized battery units compared to Honda’s Mobile Power Pack e units.
In addition to offering electric scooter battery exchange subscription plans to users, Enyring will also collaborate with leaders in Europe to recycle used batteries.
In doing so, Yamaha will create a closed-loop system that relies entirely on recycling materials to produce the latest products.
Enyring will be based in Berlin, Germany, with operations set to commence in the first half of 2025. To start, Enyring will establish battery exchange infrastructure in two major cities, Berlin and Amsterdam.
The selection of these two locations is considered highly suitable as the use of bicycles and electric scooters has already become popular among the local population.
JAPAN’S Big Four Companies (Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Honda) and the energy company Eneos have formed Gachaco, a electric scooter battery swapping service in the Japanese market.
Initially, Gachaco was targeted for business and delivery use only and could only be used for certain models of Honda electric scooters, such as Benly e:, Gyro e:, Gyro Canopy e:, and EM1 e:.
Only the EM1 e: model is available for public purchase, where interested individuals can subscribe to Gachaco’s battery swapping service.
By reclassifying the battery as a service and excluding it from the selling price, Honda customers can obtain the EM1 e: scooter at a lower cost, approximately 97,200 yen (RM3,167).
What they need to do is subscribe to Gachaco’s battery swapping service based on their current usage. For example, the basic plan starts at about 1,078 yen per month (RM35 per month), while the standard plan costs 2,805 yen per month (RM91.39 per month).
Gachaco also offers a pay-per-use option for each usage, priced at 180 yen per kWh (RM5.86 per kWh).
At present, the Gachaco battery swapping service, which utilizes the Honda Mobile Power Pack e: unit, is only available in Japan.
