Malaysia Airlines bans power bank usage in-flight starting April 1

This week, Malaysia Airlines updated its regulations regarding the use of power banks for passengers traveling with Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and MASwings to ensure collective safety.

Starting April 1, 2025, passengers must keep their power banks with them at all times, either in their carry-on bags placed under the seat or in the seat pocket in front of them.

Passengers are prohibited from storing power banks or lithium-ion battery replacements in checked baggage or cabin bags placed in the overhead storage.

The use or charging of power banks is not permitted during taxi, takeoff, or when the seatbelt sign is on.

Finally, each passenger is allowed to bring a maximum of two power banks, with a capacity ranging from 100 to 160 Wh.

In addition to Malaysia Airlines, several other airlines, such as Batik Air and Singapore Airlines, have also issued similar reminders.
