Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has announced the special edition (SE) model of the Yamaha Y15ZR, which comes in the Bronze Fury colour.
Each purchase of the Yamaha Y15ZR SE will include a sporty visor, along with a premium Yamaha basket equipped with a USB-C charging slot.
This Yamaha Y15ZR SE can be found at all authorized Yamaha dealers nationwide starting April 7, 2025, with a price of RM9,498, excluding insurance and registration fees.
Owners of the Yamaha Y15ZR SE will also receive a complimentary brake disc lock package worth RM100.
In terms of specifications, it retains the single-cylinder 150 cc liquid-cooled engine, producing 15.2 hp at 8,500 rpm and 13.8 Nm at 7,000 rpm.
Boon Siew Honda has announced the release of the CBR150R featuring a new Honda Tricolor color scheme, inspired by the racing DNA present in the CBR1000RR-R, CBR650R, and CBR250RR.
In addition to the Honda Tricolor, the CBR150R is also available in a Silver option, enhanced with bright yellow accents.
In terms of specifications, the Honda CBR150R is powered by a single-cylinder 149.2 cc engine, generating 16 hp at 9,000 rpm and 13.7 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. It is paired with a six-speed transmission and features an assist and slipper clutch.
The motorcycle maintains a front inverted fork suspension setup, along with a single rear shock absorber, 17-inch wheels, front and rear disc brakes, a dual-channel ABS system, a digital meter panel, and LED lights.
Other features include a fuel tank capacity of 12 liters and a seat height of 788 mm.
The Honda CBR150R 2025 is available starting March 19 at all authorized Honda dealers and IMPIAN X across the country, with a price tag of RM13,399 (excluding road tax, insurance, and registration).
The official distributor of the Kamax brand, KTNS Holdings Sdn Bhd, is expected to introduce another model of motorcycle to the Malaysian market, namely the KAMAX Cub X 150.
This announcement was made during a recent media tour of the KAMAX exhibition center located in Jiulongpo, Chongqing.
Unlike the previously launched Super Pro motorcycle, the Cub X features a 150 cc engine that produces 9.1 hp at 7,500 rpm and 10.5 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm.
As a cubcross machine, the Cub X comes with more aggressive specifications, including tubeless off-road tires, 17-inch spoked rims, a single seat covered in leather, and a cargo rack in place of a passenger seat.
The suspension system of the Cub X consists of 26 mm telescopic forks in the front, followed by dual shock absorbers at the rear, each offering a wheel travel of 88.9 mm and 91.4 mm, respectively.
Additional features include:
LED lighting system
LCD cluster display
3.8-liter fuel tank
Chrome side mirrors
Engine protector
Two-channel ABS system
Saddle height of 790 mm
Smart key system
According to KTNS, this model is expected to enter the Malaysian market around August or September, with a price tag below RM10,000.
This positions the KAMAX Cub X to compete with models in its class, such as the Yamaha PG-1 and Aveta Ranger Max 130.
Unlike the electric motorcycle and scooter segment, it can be challenging to find two-wheeled machines powered by hybrid engines.
Kawasaki has previously unveiled two hybrid models, the Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z7 Hybrid.
What about Yamaha?
At the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, which took place last month, Yamaha Motor India showcased a naked motorcycle that was once popular in Malaysia—the FZ.
More specifically, it’s the all-new Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid, powered by a single-cylinder 149 cc air-cooled engine that produces 12.4 hp and 13.3 Nm of torque.
Unlike the hybrid systems found in Kawasaki machines, the FZ-S Hybrid relies on a mild-hybrid system, where extra power is supplied by an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG).
While there is no benefit in terms of zero-emission riding, assistance from the electric motor can enhance the characteristics of the 150 cc engine to feel more like a 200 cc, especially during acceleration or when overtaking vehicles.
With this mild-hybrid system, it’s possible for the 13-liter fuel tank to achieve a riding range of over 480 km.
Other features include:
41 mm front telescopic forks
Single shock absorber with 7-level preload adjustment
17-inch alloy wheels
Seat height of 790 mm
Traction control system (TCS)
282 mm front brake rotor, 220 mm rear
Single-channel ABS braking system
In the Indian market, the Yamaha FZ-S Hybrid is priced at INR 130,700 (approximately RM 6,600).
Starting next year, motorcycles with a capacity of 150cc and above must be equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), as reported by Bernama.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who also chairs the Malaysian Cabinet Committee on Road Safety and Traffic Congestion, ABS can reduce motorcycle rider fatalities by 31% in accidents, based on a report from the World Health Organization.
“I am confident that this initiative will reduce road user deaths in Malaysia and inspire other ASEAN countries to take similar steps, making motorcycles safer across the region,” he said during his speech at the Asian Road Safety Conference (CARS).
Transport Minister Anthony Loke and Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong were also present at the event.
Ahmad Zahid also proposed expanding the Motorcycle Assessment Program Malaysia (MyMAP) rating system beyond Malaysia to enhance motorcycle safety worldwide.
“Through this, we can identify which motorcycles from which companies are safer and vice versa,” he said.
