BYD recently marked a historic moment in its 30th-anniversary celebration with the roll-off of its 10-millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) at its Xiaomo plant in Shenzhen.
BYD said the achievement underscores its unwavering commitment to sustainable transportation and reinforces its position as a global leader in the automotive industry. The company claimed that it is the world’s first automaker to reach the figure.
It took BYD 15 years to produce its first five million NEVs and achieved the next five million in just 15 months, demonstrating the company’s strategic focus on new energy vehicles and its continuous technological advancement.
The 10 millionth vehicle is a Denza Z9 owned by Feng Ji, the founder and CEO of Game Science, the company behind the video game Black Myth: Wukong.
The Z9 is offered in both shooting brake (referred to as GT) and sedan versions, with a choice of PHEV or EV powertrains. The PHEV version combines a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with three electric motors to produce 870 PS.
The EV version, on the other hand, boasts a total system output of 965 PS supplied by three electric motors, alongside a 100 kWh battery that provides an approximate driving range of 630 km.
Regarding future plans, BYD stated that it will invest 100 billion yuan (£12 billion) in the development of smart technology that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) into automotive systems.
Bernama news portal reports that faulty electrical wiring system was among the causes of an electric shock incident that occurred on an express bus recently.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated that the wiring system in the bus was installed by individuals who did not have authorization from the Energy Commission (EC).
An initial report by the Special Task Force also found that the wiring connection from the distribution box (DB) to the socket wiring was installed incorrectly.
“This bus’ wiring is new, but what this team has identified is that there is irregular wiring making it unsafe, such as socket wiring being installed incorrectly, causing the input and output to be reversed.
“High voltage was output through that socket and when that voltage flowed through the victim’s body, it resulted in death. This is what we have identified as one of the causes of this incident,” he said at a press conference at the Parliament Building today.
The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) had previously issued a ban on the use of 3-pin and USB sockets in all express buses on November 6, which is effective until new wiring policies and guidelines are issued by the Ministry of Transport.
“Bus operators are encouraged to send the buses for additional wiring inspections and tests that have been accredited by the Energy Commission. If they pass, they can submit them to APAD to reuse those sockets,” he said.
For licensing purposes, APAD also requires both new and existing bus operators to submit the results of reports or certificates of additional wiring inspections by inspection and testing bodies accredited by the Malaysian Department of Standards.
They must also submit reports on the wiring and additional electrical equipment, such as wiring, outlet sockets, and residual current devices used in all commercial vehicles.
At the same time, Loke mentioned that they are developing new additional wiring guidelines for all bus operators, which are expected to be completed within at least six months.
Previously, Lamborghini took a bold step by reviving the iconic Countach, and now Ferrari may take a similar approach with its legendary Prancing Horse model: the F40.
According to a report from Top Gear citing a “very reliable” source, a modern version of the F40 might be resurrected as part of Ferrari’s Icona model series.
Monza SP1
Monza SP2
Daytona SP3
Currently, Ferrari has already produced several Icona models, including the Monza SP1, Monza SP2, and Daytona SP3, all manufactured in limited units.
The Ferrari F40 is a V8 supercar that was produced from 1987 to 1992 and was the final model officially recognized and approved by Enzo Ferrari.
With a design by Pininfarina, the F40 is considered one of the most beautiful supercars that adorned the walls of petrolhead enthusiasts during that era.
To maintain the F40 theme, Ferrari may utilize the hybrid twin-turbo V8 setup from the SF90 Stradale for this latest Icona model.
However, it remains uncertain whether the modern revival of the F40 will be well-received by its fans.
Just look at the reception of the modern Lamborghini Countach, which faced harsh criticism and did not receive recognition from the original Countach designer, Marcello Gandini.
What do you think? Is it justified for this iconic model to be given a new lease on life like its competitor, the Lamborghini Countach?
Polyphony Digital, the developer of the simulation game Gran Turismo 7, has announced Update 1.54 (a size of 32GB!) which is now available for early download by PlayStation 5 users, and for all players starting November 21st.

Dynamikjaya Motors (DJM), the official distributor of Kia vehicles in Malaysia, has confirmed that the fifth generation Kia Sportage will make its debut at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) 2024 this December.
According to the company, the C-segment SUV is locally assembled (CKD) in Kulim, Kedah. Bookings have already opened at all authorised Kia dealerships nationwide, although the pricing has yet to be announced.
As can be seen, the soon-to-be-launched Sportage is the pre-facelift model and not the recently introduced facelift version.
In a FAQ, DJM stated that currently, the facelifted Sportage is only available in South Korea but the SUV is expected to arrive in the local market within the next two years.
The Sportage will be offered with two engine options: the Smartstream 2.0-litre petrol engine (156 hp/192 Nm) paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, and the Gamma II 1.5-litre turbocharged engine (177 hp/265 Nm) with a seven-speed DCT.
Features-wise, it will come equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, and a Harman Kardon audio system for the higher variants.
Safety systems will include Forward-Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance (BCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance (RCCA), and more.
Finally, DJM will offer a five-year warranty and a complimentary five-year service package.
Jaguar has recently unveiled a brand new identity and logo to signify the start of a full-time EV era for the luxury brand.
According to Jaguar, this reinvention is based on the philosophy of its founder, Sir William Lyons, who is famously quoted as saying, “A Jaguar should not copy anything.”
The four main pillars of Jaguar’s identity overhaul are:
Device Mark: A minimalist logo featuring the Exuberant typeface.
Strike Through: Sixteen horizontal stripes that will be used on upcoming models.
Exuberant Colors: A new color palette for Jaguar models.
Maker’s Mark: Comprising two symbols—the leaping Jaguar image and a monogram featuring the letters ‘j’ and ‘r.’
These four visuals will appear on concept models as well as three promised electric production models set to launch before 2030.
One of the models expected to be launched is a sedan based on a prototype heavily covered in camouflage stickers.
It features a low, long sedan design, reminiscent of a blend between the Porsche Taycan and the BMW i7.
This significantly different design approach from Jaguar’s previous strategies indicates the manufacturer’s readiness to compete with other ultra-luxury brands such as Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
The HI-REV Dream Chaser racing team has announced its driver lineup for the Sepang 1000KM (S1K) endurance race, which will take place this weekend.
Two vehicles will be fielded: a modified Honda City and a modified Suzuki Swift, both designed to meet the technical demands of the 1,000 km race.
The Honda City will be driven by Lee Wai Chong (Malaysia), Aaron Haikal (Malaysia), and Fitra Eri (Indonesia), while the Suzuki Swift will be handled by Daim Hishamudin (Singapore), Hayden Haikal, and Rahul Mayer.
The S1K race is expected to be an excellent platform for the HI-REV Dream Chaser team to showcase the skills of their drivers, the capabilities of their racing machines, and the durability of HI-REV lubricants in endurance racing.
In addition to the S1K, the team is also participating in the Malaysia Championship Series (MCS), where they made history by clinching the overall champion title for the third consecutive year.
The government has stated that incentives for the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure will continue, even though these incentives were not specifically mentioned in Budget 2025.
According to the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), among the incentives are Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) programme, which allows charging point operators (CPOs) who meet the tax incentive criteria to receive a 100% tax exemption in the form of an Investment Tax Allowance for five years.
This allowance can be used to offset up to 100% of statutory income for each tax assessment year.
“In addition, incentives in the form of income tax exemptions are also being offered to companies manufacturing EV charging equipment in the form of a full income tax exemption on statutory income from the assessment year 2023 until the assessment year 2032,” MITI said.
The ministry said this in a written reply on the Parliament website on Monday in response to a question from Tan Kok Wai (PH-Cheras) regarding the specific allocations for EV charging infrastructure development in the current budget.
MITI also said the government expects the total number of electric-powered vehicles (xEV) on the road to reach at least 400,000 passenger and commercial vehicles by 2030.
As of 30 September, the total annual sales rate for vehicles, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery electric vehicles (BEVs), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), stood at 33,319 units. The overall figure for 2023 was 35,723 units.
Meanwhile, to support the development of EV charging bays (EVCB), the ministry noted that Petronas subsidiary Gentari and Tenaga Nasional Bhd have committed to making investments and had spent approximately RM76 million up to June 2024.
With the significant financial involvement of both companies, more EVCBs are expected to be built across Malaysia, supported by other CPOs that also provide EV charging services to the public.
“This positive development has helped boost the confidence of EV enthusiasts in purchasing and using these vehicles,” MITI added.

Thanks to its aggressive styling and an exhaust that pops and bangs everytime you lift your foot from the throttle, the Hyundai Elantra N certainly stands out, even in its standard guise.
However, perhaps sensing that the high-performance sedan still has room for improvement, the Korean automaker has unveiled the Elantra N TCR Edition.
Inspired by the race cars competing in the TCR World Tour, the Elantra N TCR Edition comes with multiple upgraded performance parts.
The most notable addition is of course the carbon swan neck spoiler, which is adjustable to provide optimal downforce settings for various driving conditions and preferences.
On top of that, the Elantra N TCR Edition features lightweight 19-inch forged wheels that are highly rigid. Hidden behind these wheels is the Hyundai’s N Performance four-piston braking system.
For some reason, the TCR Edition’s striking blue, red, and white livery, with an oversized ‘N’, is exclusively available in the South Korean market.
Inside, the cabin boasts an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, adorned with a Performance Blue 12 o’clock marker, matching Performance Blue seat belts, and an exclusive TCR Edition badging.
The engine remains untouched. Like the standard version, the Elantra N TCR Edition delivers 280 PS and 392 Nm of torque from its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The Elantra N is offered with two transmission options: an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and a six-speed manual. Official images released by Hyundai show the DCT variant, but it remains uncertain whether the manual option will be available for this special edition.
The Elantra N TCR Edition is set to launch in South Korea this December, with a global rollout anticipated next year.

With over one million units sold, the Lexus ES continues to have a dedicated fan base in the Chinese market.
The seventh generation of this luxury sedan from Japan has been updated for the second time, following its first facelift in 2021.
Officially revealed at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, the Lexus ES showcases cosmetic changes, particularly in the front and rear design.
The LED matrix headlights have been reworked, now featuring a double boomerang graphic, while the front spindle grille adopts a design inspired by the Lexus RX model.
Moving to the rear, the LED taillights have also been updated with a dual L-shaped graphic, accompanied by a full-width horizontal light bar that aligns with current trends.
Inside the cabin, the Lexus ES now employs a 14-inch infotainment screen, replacing the original 12.3-inch screen, and is complemented by two knobs for climate and media controls.
The gear shift knob has also been redesigned, alongside new trim and upholstery options.
The Lexus ES continues to offer the same engine options as the pre-facelift model, with the ES 200 variant featuring a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine producing 170 hp.
Meanwhile, the ES 300h variant is powered by a 2.5-liter hybrid engine that generates a total power output of 215 hp.
The seventh generation of the Lexus ES has been on the market since 2018, and the arrival of this second facelift model is seen as a way to keep the offering fresh for several more years before the introduction of a new generation model.
There are rumors that Lexus plans to launch a fully electric sedan for the next-generation ES model.
As we know, Nissan has been one of the early pioneers of electric vehicles for the mass market.
However, relying solely on the Nissan Ariya and somewhat outdated LEAF could cause Nissan to fall significantly behind, especially when competing with rivals like BYD and Tesla.
Recently, the Dongfeng Nissan partnership showcased the Nissan N7 EV, an electric sedan designed specifically for the Chinese market.
Built on a modular platform, this mid-size sedan measures 4,930 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, 1,487 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,915 mm.
The V-motion design elements are still present in the N7, but with a more modern approach.
It features an LED light strip that spans the width of the vehicle, consisting of 710 LED units, followed by boomerang-shaped headlights, while the rear showcases a light structure composed of 882 OLED units.
The aerodynamic design of the Nissan N7 allows it to achieve a drag coefficient (Cd) as low as 0.208, aided by the sleek design of its door handles.
The Nissan N7 also features frameless door construction.
Although no images of the cabin have been provided, Nissan confirms that the N7’s cockpit will utilize a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processing chip, with 256GB of storage and 32GB of memory.
Through a collaboration with Momenta, Dongfeng Nissan will equip the N7 with an advanced driver assistance system named ‘Navigate on Autopilot.’
The arrival of the N7 EV electric sedan is expected to restore Nissan’s reputation in the Chinese market when it goes on sale in the first half of 2025.
Further details, such as specifications and the range of this electric sedan, will only be revealed ahead of the official launch next year.

Honda may not be the first brand that springs to mind when discussing off-road vehicles, but the company is hoping to change it with the all-new fourth-generation Passport.
Much like its predecessors, the Passport will be exclusively available in the North American market. For the 2026 model year, it will be offered in three distinct variants, RTL, TrailSport, and TrailSport Elite, with prices starting from the mid-$40,000s (approximately RM178,708).
Each variant boasts a unique appearance. The RTL features sleek black trim and grille, a roof spoiler, and a silver skid garnish front and rear. It rides on 18-inch Gloss Shark Gray wheels fitted with 265/60 R18 all-season tyres.
In contrast, the TrailSport and TrailSport Elite present a more rugged aesthetic, equipped with exclusive off-road hardware such as bright orange heavy-duty recovery hooks, thick steel skid plates, and General Grabber all-terrain tyres in a size of 275/60 R18.
When compared to the third-generation model, the new Passport’s wheelbase has been extended (+2.75 inches) for better ride comfort, alongside wider tracks (+1.3 inches at the front and +1.5 inches at the rear) that contribute to improve cornering stability.
What’s particularly noteworthy is the matte black finish of the rear roof section, which is there to enable owners to lean skis, fishing poles and other equipment without fretting over scratches or damage.
Inside, Honda describes the Passport as perfectly suited for both daily routines and weekend adventures. The RTL variant features luxurious leather upholstery, while the TrailSport variants come with easy-to-clean synthetic leather.
Honda claims the 2026 Passport has the most cargo room in the model’s history, boasting up to 83.5 cubic feet behind the first row and 44 cubic feet behind the second row, which includes a larger redesigned underfloor storage area.

On the equipment front, the Passport includes a 10.2-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen—54% larger than its predecessor—featuring Google integration, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Under the hood, the Passport is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine that delivers 285 hp and 355 Nm of torque, representing a 5 hp increase over earlier models. Power is directed to the wheels through a newly fine-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission specifically calibrated for the Passport.
Moreover, this SUV is equipped with the second-generation torque vectoring i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system, capable of handling 40% more torque and providing 30% faster response. This results in optimised traction across various driving scenarios.
Also enhanced is the suspension system, now featuring stronger forged steel suspension arms and cast-iron knuckles, alongside retuned MacPherson and multilink struts for a more confident handling feel. The steering ratio has also been recalibrated to provide quicker response.
