Modenas Ninja 500 01

Motosikal & Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas), a subsidiary of DRB-Hicom, has launched the Modenas Ninja 500 for the Malaysian market.

This mid-sized sports motorcycle is available in two variant guises – standard and Special Edition (SE). The former is priced at RM28,100 and is available only in black.

Meanwhile, the Ninja 500 SE, which is priced at RM30,100, is offered in two shades, namely Lime Green and black/red.

Regardless of whether it is the standard or SE version, the Ninja 500 is powered by a 500 cc parallel twin engine that churns out 44.8 hp at 9,000 rpm and 42.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission.

The Ninja 500 has dimensions of 1,995 mm in length, 730 mm in width, and a wheelbase of 1,375 mm. The seat height reaches 785 mm, while the fuel tank capacity is 14 litres, giving the motorcycle an overall weight of 171 kg.

The suspension system consists of 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and a rear shock absorber with preload adjustment.

For braking, the Ninja 500 relies on a single 310 mm disc with a two-piston caliper at the front and a single 220 mm disc with a single-piston caliper at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is fitted on both versions.

In addition to the different colour options, the Ninja 500 SE gains some extra kit including a USB Type-C port, a keyless entry system known as KIPASS (Kawasaki Intelligent Proximity Activation Start System), and a full-colour TFT display.
