Koenigsegg Jesko Attack breaks record for fastest lap at Laguna Seca

Koenigsegg has successfully broken the latest record for the fastest lap at the Laguna Seca circuit using the Jesko Attack.

The hypercar circuited the Laguna Seca Raceway with a time of 1:24.86, consequently surpassing the previous record holder, the Czinger 21C (1:25.44).

This is an impressive achievement considering that Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh had never set foot on the famous track before.

In fact, this was also the first time the performance of the Jesko was tested at the Laguna Seca circuit.

The Koenigsegg Jesko is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine capable of producing a staggering 1,600 hp using E85 fuel.

In comparison to the Absolute variant, which prioritizes top speed, the Attack variant used in this lap record has a more aggressive aerodynamic package, along with specific suspension tuning and shorter gear ratios.

For comparison, several high-performance production cars also recorded their fastest lap times at the track, including the McLaren 765LT (1:27.50), McLaren Senna (1:27.62), and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT (1:27.87)

Koenigsegg Gemera with 2.0L 3-cylinder engine is not happening, clients prefer the V8

KOENIGSEGG surprised the world by announcing the Gemera engine with a three-cylinder. This is a departure from the usual V8 engines associated with the Swedish manufacturer.

The powerful 2.0-liter three-cylinder engine, combined with electric motors, did not attract many Koenigsegg customers. They are more interested in the V8-powered Gemera.

The CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg, revealed in an interview about the cancellation of this three-cylinder engine. He mentioned that they are not completely abandoning this technology.

Christian stated that they will continue to develop this engine, which may be used in the Gemera or other versions. However, the V8 engine seems to be more popular, unfortunately.

The 2.0-liter engine named Tiny Friendly Giant is part of a hybrid system consisting of the three-cylinder unit along with three electric motors. This package provides a total output of 1,700hp and 3,499Nm of torque.

The four-seater supercar can reach 100km/h in just 1.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 400km/h.

For now, the Gemera will only be offered with a V8 engine, according to Christian, who is not surprised by its popularity.

The V8 5.0-liter twin-turbo engine produces 2,300hp and 2,750Nm of torque using E85 fuel. Production is scheduled to start at the end of this year, with deliveries expected to begin early next year.

Only 300 units are planned for production.

Koenigsegg will replace the burnt Jesko for free

Last month, a Koenigsegg Jesko was engulfed in flames in Greece. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. However, sadly, the car could not be salvaged.

This past Tuesday, the Swedish hypercar manufacturer announced that they had identified the cause of the fire, and they will replace a new car for the owner free of charge.

“The fuel tank, engine oil, and gearbox system remain in good condition even after the fire was successfully extinguished. These components were not affected by the fire,” said their CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg in a letter on Instagram.

“However, there was a hydraulic oil leak at the rear of the car on the road. We have examined the pressurized hydraulic system, which is the only system with this fluid.

“Upon closer inspection of the car, we also found that the pressurized hydraulic hose was damaged or leaking.

“This, along with the hydraulic oil spill on the road, indicates that it was the cause of the fire,” Christian said.

After the fire, Koenigsegg urged all Jesko owners not to drive their vehicles immediately.

Instead, the company will inspect the hydraulic lines for all delivered and in-production Jesko cars.

They will also release a software update next week that will immediately stop the hydraulic system if it detects any leaks.

A busy week for Koenigsegg. Recently, they announced that the Jesko Absolut broke the 0-400-0 km/h acceleration record and several other records.

Koenigsegg Jesko breaks four speed records in a single run, 0-400-0 km/h in 28.81 secs!

Last year, Koenigsegg Regera set a speed record for the 0-400-0 km/h sprint in 28.81 seconds at an airfield in Örebro, Sweden.

Just a few days ago, at the same location, the record was successfully broken by another Koenigsegg megacar, the Jesko, with a time of 27.83 seconds.

What’s even more impressive, the Jesko also broke three more world records in the same run where it reached 412 km/h: the 0-400 km/h sprint in 18.82 seconds, the 0-250-0 mph sprint in 28.27 seconds, and the 0-250 mph sprint in 19.20 seconds.

According to Koenigsegg, the car was driven by its test driver, Markus Lundh. The exact model used for the attempt was the Jesko Absolut, which is designed specifically for straight-line speed.

It has a smaller frontal area, limited and targeted venting for the release of high-pressure air, and no active aero, all intended to minimise drag.

The car used was in standard form, running on E85 fuel and standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tyres. The only modifications made to the car were the addition of a roll cage and a One:1 driver seat, at the request of Lundh.

Needless to say, the Jesko is among the most potent cars ever produced. Powering it is a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing 1,600 horsepower and 1,500 Nm of torque when using E85 fuel.

The earth-shattering outputs are transmitted to the rear wheels through a nine-speed gearbox called the Light Speed Transmission (LST). It is also one of the most aerodynamic cars in its class, with a drag coefficient of Cd 0.278.

Koenigsegg Jesko shows off carbon fibre body, 24K gold trims

THE Koenigsegg Jesko was introduced in 2019 as a replacement for the aging Agera. The Swedish megacar is named after Jesko von Koenigsegg, the father of the founder and CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg.

According to Koenigsegg, production of the Jesko is limited to just 125 units. In a recent Instagram post, the company revealed the latest unit to roll out of its factory.

Appearance wise, this particular Jesko is said to have taken inspiration from a similar-looking Agera RS ‘Phoenix’ which was specially built for renowned US real estate mogul Manny Khoshbin.

Like the Phoenix, each panel body panel of the Jesko is made from carbon fiber, finished with a clear coat for a glossy effect. It is then accentuated with 24 karat gold leaf accents on the front canards, side mirror arms, bonnet, front bumper, side skirt fins, and rear wing endplates.

Not only that, the Koenigsegg logo and roof are also adorned with the gold leaf trim, indicating that this is not your ordinary Jesko.

This specific unit is an Attack variant that is specifically tuned for track performance, evident in the extra appendages that are there to improve aerodynamics. This include the aggressive front splitter, the diffuser as well as the spoiler.

In addition to the Attack, the Jesko is also available in an Absolut guise, which is theoretically capable of exceeding a top speed of 480 km/h. This variant does not come with a spoiler.

Both the Attack and Absolut are powered by a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that can produce up to 1,280 hp on regular gasoline or 1,600 hp on E85 fuel.

With a nine-speed multi-clutch transmission driving the rear wheels, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.5 seconds.
